biography

HIZAKI started his music career in the late 90's playing for some local bands in his hometown, Kyoto. The only known one at the moment is GARNET GRAVE, whose activities probably took place between 1997 and 1998.

In April 1999 HIZAKI formed Crack brain and some months later he got a contract with the Kyoto-based indies label CROW MUSIC. The band soon moved to Tokyo and eventually disbanded in September 2002.

In early 2003 HIZAKI formed Schwardix Marvally with ex-Crack brain Airi and ex-Madeth gray'll Hisui. In these years HIZAKI started playing neoclassical power metal and developed what would become his trademark sound. However, Schwardix Marvally disbanded in April 2004 due to Airi's decision to retire from the music scene.

HIZAKI took a break from the stage too, but kept being busy in studio recording and releasing music as a solo artist. His first two mini-albums were produced with the collaboration of several friends from the music scene. One of them, MASAKI, invited him to join SULFURIC ACID in early 2005. Guitarist TOMOZO had been the band leader since the debut in 1999, but HIZAKI promptly became a key member, composing most of the songs and heavily influencing the music style of the band.

In 2006 HIZAKI worked on a new solo project called HIZAKI grace project, this time with the help of HIKARU from IZABEL VAROSA on vocals and Yuu (later known as Jasmine You) on bass. This band would become HIZAKI's main project after SULFURIC ACID announced their decision to disband in October 2006.

The project lineup settled in November with TERU on guitar, Mikage (ex-BABYLON) on drums, Yuu on bass and Juka on vocals. The debut album was produced by ex-LAREINE KAMIJO and released under TOMOZO's label Sequence Records.

In the meantime HIZAKI collaborated few times with KAMIJO: he played as a support member at his solo concerts in December and also at LAREINE's last live on Halloween 2006.

In early 2007, HIZAKI took part to Node of Scherzo, a sort of session band which included both music performances and acting. This project saw the involvement of Kaya, Juka and KAMIJO as main characters.

At the debut gig of Node of Scherzo, held on May 14th, HIZAKI and KAMIJO announced they would play together in a new project. The band name revealed on March 30th was Versailles.

Beside working on Versailles, HIZAKI has been active as a solo artist with HIZAKI grace project and as the producer and composer of Juka's solo project. However, in late 2007 he decided to temporarily stop all his side projects in order to focus on Versailles activities.

His first experience in the visual kei scene was with death+qpid, an indies band later known as Sugar Trip.

After they disbanded in 2003, You decided not to join another full-time band and only played in some session bands. In 2006 he moved to Tokyo and was invited by his long-time friend HIZAKI to join his solo project. In the meantime he also took part to the theatrical rock show Node of scherzo with HIZAKI, Juka, Kaya and KAMIJO. According to some interviews, it looks like You has never been officially invited to join Versailles. He was hanging around with KAMIJO and HIZAKI a lot at that time and it just felt natural to have him in the band. In the indies days he was in charge of the business side of the band, having a lot of contacts with other musicians, shops and companies. On August 2nd 2009, it was announced that Jasmine You would take a break from the music scene due to his poor physical condition. Due to this matter, Versailles performed as a four member unit at their first major peformance at the SCUBER DIVE festival on August 3rd. In the first hours of August 10th, a shocking announcement reporting that Jasmine You had passed away the previous day was published on the official website. According to his family and friends, his condition had went so bad that during his last days he couldn't even move and was under medical care at his home. Few days before his death, his bandmates brought him to see the night sky of Yokohama, as it was one of his last wishes. On his last evening, he wanted to see the fireworks over the Tokyo Bay but his condition was so poor that he couldn't leave the apartment. He just enjoyed the Tokyo night view from the roof of his apartment. It was reported he passed away peacefully and looking beautiful as always. He wanted to have his nails done one more time and wear his everyday makeup. A funeral procession with all Jasmine's friends and bandmates was held in Tokyo. Right after that his family brought him back to his hometown in Aichi prefecture where he was visited by his local friends and relatives. The cremation took place on August 12th in Nagoya. As all his Versailles items had been left in Tokyo, he was dressed in his HIZAKI grace project outfit. HIZAKI grace project was the band that made his wish come true one more time after Jyakura disbanded, and he was always listening to them during his last days. Jasmine You's family posted two memorial messages on his former ameblo. A translation is available on Versailles livejournal community.

TERU is the youngest member of Versailles and also the last one to join the band.
He was supposed to be an official member since the beginning, but due to his obligations towards his former band Aikaryu he considered himself a support member until July 2007.
Like Jasmine You, TERU had already worked with HIZAKI as a member of HIZAKI grace project.

biography

KAMIJO became quite popular in the visual kei scene as the lead singer of LAREINE, a band that had a quite complicated story. After several lineup changes, the lineup settled in 1996 with MAYU on guitar, Emiru on bass and Machi on drums. In 1999 they went major with Sony Music, but shortly after the release of their most succesful album Fierté no umi to tomo ni kiyu フィエルテの海と共に消ゆ all members but KAMIJO announced they wanted to leave the band.

In late 2000 KAMIJO released a full album and a single using the name LAREINE, and eventually formed a new band called NEW SODMY in Summer 2001.

In late 2002 NEW SODMY disbanded and KAMIJO resumed LAREINE one more time. Former LAREINE members took part to the recording process as secret guests, and by April 2003 both MAYU and Emiru came back as official members. A new drummer was found in ex-RIBBON KAZUMI.

The activities of the reborn LAREINE went on steadily until 2006, when KAZUMI announced he had to retire from the music scene due to personal reasons and shortly after that MAYU litterally vanished in thin air. KAMIJO and Emiru tried to keep on playing live with the help of support members, but eventually decided to disband LAREINE. The last live took place with HIZAKI as support guitarist on October 31st 2006 and was followed by a memorial event on February 18th 2007.

KAMIJO had a couple of solo performances with ex-Fatima Kanoma on Christmas 2006 and at the same time produced the theatrical rock show Node of scherzo with the help of HIZAKI, Jasmine You and the solo artists Kaya and Juka. At the first event of Node of scherzo, held on March 14th 2007, he announced that he would form a new band with HIZAKI.
